How to use MynaParrot BigBlueButton Service in Moodle Plugin

Step 1. Login to your account 

Now navigate to: "My Classrooms"


Step 2. Find your Salt  and Host URL information here


Step 3. Navigate to your Moodle BBB plugin (Site administrator > Plugins > BigBlueButtonBN)



Step 4. Input that information into your Moodle BBB plugin

BigBlueButton Server URL: Your Host URL

BigBlueButton Shared Secret: Your Salt



Step 5. Then you can add the BBB activity in your Moodle course.


Reminders: Must configure the "User limit" in each activity, otherwise you may face problem to start more than one class/session/meeting. By default our system will auto set the value of user limit to 30 for each session.


You can follow this steps to set user limit in your Moodle BigBlueButton activity.

Step a. Edit the Moodle BigBlueButton activity.



Step b: Now click on "Activity/Room settings" to expand it & you should find "User limit" option there. Now set value according to your need in User Limit text box. The value should be positive number like 10, 20, 25, 30 etc. This value is the expected number of users going to join this session/classroom. So, the calculation will be number of students + teacher/moderator. For example: You are planning to join total 25 users (24 students + 1 teacher) in this session, so the value of "User limit" can be 25 or 27.



Now save the activity & try to join. It should work. Kindly remember, if the session is already running then this changes won't affect. So, you'll have to wait until the session finish or you'll need to end it. When the new session will be starting only that time new settings will apply.



Note: You may not see "User limit" option in your activity. In this case need to check plugin's setting to enable that option. By the same time you can set default "User limit" for all your activities. For doing so, please follow:


i) Navigate to (Site administrator > Plugins > BigBlueButtonBN)



ii) Now try to find Configuration for "User limit" feature section:



Here you can set global user limit. Remember this will affect all your activities but you can set edit option On so that you can edit the users limit in each activity independently.

Common Problems & Solutions:


Problem 1: The URL for this recording format is unreachable

Solution: This is happening when Moodle is trying to verify the recording link & failed to get response or timeout. This can be call a bug of this plugin because it's treating it as invalid but actually the recording is valid. This problem has been solved to by adding extra option to disable URL verification in version 2.3.4 . Please upgrade to that version first.

Now navigate to plugin's configuration page: Site administrator > Plugins > BigBlueButtonBN

Now under Configuration for "Show recordings" feature section check for "Validate URL". Make it disable like this:

Now save the settings & clean the cache Site administrator > Development > Purge caches > Purge all caches

Now check the activity, it should solve the problem.

Manually fix (not recommended):

You can also edit one PHP file manually to resolve this problem too. Please take backup the file before edit.

Using FTP login access your Moodle files. You'll require to edit MOODLE/mod/bigbluebuttonbn/locallib.php

Open that file using editor. Now search for this code:

    if (!bigbluebuttonbn_is_bn_server() && !bigbluebuttonbn_is_valid_resource(trim($playback['url']))) {
        $linkattributes['class'] = 'btn btn-sm btn-warning';
        $linkattributes['title'] = get_string('view_recording_format_errror_unreachable', 'bigbluebuttonbn');

It will be around line number: 1627

Change those code like this:

    /*if (!bigbluebuttonbn_is_bn_server() && !bigbluebuttonbn_is_valid_resource(trim($playback['url']))) {
        $linkattributes['class'] = 'btn btn-sm btn-warning';
        $linkattributes['title'] = get_string('view_recording_format_errror_unreachable', 'bigbluebuttonbn');

Now save the file & From your moodle navigate to: Site administration > Development > Purge caches > Purge all caches

Clean the cache & check recordings. It should fix the problem.
